35mm Film

35mm film is where I truly started my photography journey. At 16, I purchased a set of 3 cameras for £10 off marketplace. Only one was working. This Canon SureShot Tele, a simple 35mm point-and-shoot, became my world. It was the first thing I packed into my rucksack every morning before college, meaning it saw me through all the highs (and lows) of my late teens. I developed all the film in a shower cubical whilst in supported living, hanging it to dry in any spare corner of my room. I'd Sometimes have to dance around my make-shift drying line to get dressed.

I was burgled one night in 2022, whilst my partner and I were in bed. It's dramatic conclusion - of my partner chasing the burglar from our flat - was the end of my time with that camera. It devastated me to learn it was gone. Just as devastated as my partner was to learn he'd lost a Mini Roll cake bar. Still, I carry everything I learned from it with me. I still shoot 35mm, I eventually bought an Olympus Pen EE-2 with a trans flag from 'Cameras By Max'. A sign I've grown-up slightly, changed, since the first one I bought.
