My teen years

I've always been artistic, initially becoming passionate in drawing and painting. My love of art grew as I did, expanding into many media explorations and the adoration of many different artists.

I started taking film photographs after becoming hyper-fixated on photographers like Robert Mapplethorpe. In 2020, I purchased a 35mm point-and-shoot from Facebook marketplace hoping to lightly introduce me to the world of photography. When devastation hit with the likes of Covid and familial issues lost me my home and family connections, this camera became my obsession. I started taking photos religiously, keeping my camera in my bag wherever I went. Even when incredibly poor, living in supported accommodation, I did all I could to remain photographing. I was living off food from college staff, food banks, and produce supplied to our building, still anything I could scrape together in those early months went to supporting my way through college and (of course) film and developers. As I became less needy, the passion only grew. I found a love for medium format and instant films too.

That first camera was unfortunately stolen in a burglary in 2022, which was a great sentimental loss to me. Still, my passion and memories (as well as some of the old photographs) remain with me.
